Different Strokes

Racquel Cagurangan’s days are filled to the brim. Her energy is insurmountable , and there’s no denying how much of it rubs off on every industry she builds, every professional and personal relationship she nurtures, and everything else she does in between.

Racquel is a confident and passionate woman, unafraid to take on challenges and conquer unfamiliar territory. She started her career as a telemarketer in AT&T right after college, and with no background in business and armed with just her confidence, creativity, and cleverness in tow, Racquel managed to rise up the ranks. She then moved to Globe Telecom, became its wireline subsidiary’s chief administrative officer where she built a culture of excellence, fulfillment, and rewarding experiences which employees still remember her for to this day. She then has worked in various events management, digital marketing, and business development companies.

Shifting to healthcare, Racquel served as Maxicare’s chief operating officer, GM of Healthway and then led Aventus Medical Care. Had a brief stint in Metro Pacific Health before moving to International SOS Philippines. “I can take on any role,” she says, “I find it easy to adapt.”.

Racquel never stops studying. While getting a master’s degree was not enough she pursued to become a certified Harvard Business facilitator and a fellow in the Institute of Corporate Directors. From left field, she learned haircutting and cooking.

Racquel is very active in business organizations like Management Association of the Philippines, the Philippine-Korean Business Council, chambers of commerce, and the BPO and call center associations. Relative to her current industry, she represented the workforce in APEC in pushing for mental and emotional well-being program of employees.

That wasn’t enough. She served as president of her homeowners’ association. She is currently president of Reef Check Conservation Program in the Philippines and Rotary Club of Muntinlupa. Her friends who refer to her as the energizer bunny often ask her how she finds the time to do all these things.

Though she claims she does not look it, she is athletic having lived in the military camp as an AFP brat with access to sports like volleyball, basketball, soccer, badminton, swimming, pingpong, and tennis.

Racquel is an avid karaoke fan and dancer. She is a book worm and couch potato, enjoying every film and novel and is very invested in the story on how it is told or produced. But first and foremost, she is a mother and loves to travel with her two daughters.

While she is a driven individual, she is influential too. She is equally passionate towards other people’s successes. People she mentored and coached over the years are still in touch with her, often excitedly reporting their own achievements and attribute many of these from having worked with her.

“I like the idea of leaving a mark to every person I meet. It isn’t just a relationship; it’s got to be a very meaningful one. Everything I do is always with relevant purpose, otherwise, why do it?” she shares.
